Proposed B-BBEE Legal Sector Codes
The Legal Practice Council (“LPC”) has embarked on a process to facilitate the development and adoption of a B-BBEE Legal Sector Code. As part of the process of developing the B-BBEE Legal Sector Code, the LPC has invited interested parties to submit comments on the draft statements by 15 December 2020. We hosted the webinar on the 3rd of December 2020 and received much-valued input and will collate the suggestions and information and forward it to the LPC.
- The proposed Sector Code will be applicable to the following:
- Legal practitioners in private practice
- Legal practitioners in the private sector
- Paralegals
- Corporate entities that, in terms of their role, include the provision of legal services as well as procurers of legal services
- Legal Aid South Africa
- Government departments who procure and consume legal services in the nature and course of their function
- University law clinics
